As an experienced cloth nappy user, we were super impressed with this nappy! We loved the microfleece layer on the inserts as it kept bub dry. The cute print, well that's just a bonus!

I just love how buttery soft the nappy is against my baby's skin, it's a dream!!! The sizing of the nappy is spot on, not too big or too small.

The evolution of cloth nappies - from terry towelling to the modern nappies we know and love today

The Evolution of Cloth Nappies

Reusable nappies have been around for centuries.

Many of us would have worn terry-towelling nappies as babies, before disposables became the norm in the mid 1900's.

Reusable cloth nappies have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity recently as they have evolved and become easier to prepare, use and wash.

NappyLuxe cloth nappies are an old classic modernised for today's busy parents. You'll love'em!

Double Gusset Cloth Nappies

More adjustable for baby

Double gussets are more adjustable than single-leg elastic nappies, enabling you to find a fit that works well for your baby's unique shape. Newborn and very young babies tend to have skinny legs, meaning that cloth nappies with a single-leg elastic often don't provide a secure seal in this area, leaving gaps for leaks to occur. Not only do double gusset nappies sit snug against baby's skin from a young age, but the nappies can be adjusted as baby gains weight and size. These nappies keep everything well-contained, regardless of whether your bundle of joy has skinny or chunky thighs.

Less leaks

Cloth nappies with a single-leg elastic run the risk of moisture wicking from the elastics onto the baby's clothing, causing unwanted leaks. With a double gusset nappy, the inner elastic of the nappy doesn't sit directly against the baby's clothing as it's guarded by the outer second elastic.

More absorbency

Cloth nappy users often add extra inserts to the nappy for baby's sleep times to provide more absorbency. With a double gusset nappy, the extra elastic and strip of fabric creates a "cup" which easily allows space for extra inserts without troublesome gaps appearing around the legs. A common complaint about nappies with single leg elastics is that when additional inserts are added, the elastic is no longer able to sit flush against baby's leg, which results in leakages.

Eco-friendly

Double gusset cloth nappies are fully machine washable and can be reused time and time again. They are the eco-friendly choice over disposable nappies, which contribute greatly to landfill and pollute our planet.

Premium and long-lasting

A double gusset is a premium feature that not all cloth nappies have. Another common complaint about cloth nappies with just one leg elastic, is that the elastics start to wear out over time. With double gusset cloth nappies, think of the extra leg elastic as an added insurance policy to keep the nappies lasting long into the future.

These are some of the reasons that double gusset cloth nappies are so popular amongst seasoned cloth nappy users. NappyLuxe premium cloth nappies come with a double gusset as standard. Shop the collection now.
