Reusable Cloth Wipes

Using reusable baby cloth wipes alongside cloth nappies offers you many advantages, including being better for the environment and your wallet.

Disposable wipes are pricey, thin and flimsy and can cause nappy rash. They also aren't very effective for messy clean-ups. You will likely find yourself using up to 8 disposable wipes when 1-2 reusable wipes will do the same job.

At approximately $5 per pack for disposable wipes, the costs add up quickly. Reusable wipes provide a cost-effective alternative for use at home or on the move.

If you are already using cloth nappies, it's a no-brainer to use reusable cloth wipes as they fit into your existing cloth nappy washing routine.

How many wipes do I need?

This depends on if you plan to use them exclusively or alongside disposable wipes.

Newborns require more nappy changes so between 20-30 is advised if using them exclusively and washing regularly.

For older babies, a stash of 15 wipes will typically suffice if you are doing regular washes.

How do I use and wash reusable baby wipes?

Cloth wipes are super easy to use. Store clean wipes in a container and keep them by your changing table/station. Simply dampen with water, use then wash alongside your cloth nappies. It's as simple as that. There's no need to dry them every time after washing either.

What is the best material for cloth wipes?

Cloth wipes come in all types of fabrics and sizes. Some are even home made.

NappyLuxe wipes are made from 2-layers of super soft luxurious bamboo terry velour. They're the softest wipes going and your babies bum will love them.

Alternative materials include terry cotton which is cheaper to manufacture but much rougher on delicate skin. We chose not to use terry cotton for this very reason.

It's time to ditch the disposable wipes

Cloth wipes are a popular alternative to disposable wipes among the cloth nappy community. They're easy to use, wash and will save you hundreds of dollars. They make great presents due to their multi-purpose nature and can be used for years to come long after toilet training.
